31. Aromatherapy tray


When I made my first aromatherapy tray, I did not fully consider the shrinkage characteristics of clay, which resulted in the hole diameter being too small and making the aromatherapy tray unusable. And there was no sanding before the clay was dry.


When making the second aromatherapy tray, I learned many techniques for polishing, such as using a plastic carving knife to polish the inner corners, and using plastic sheets when polishing large areas. Using these techniques, I made the piece flatter and smoother. Glazing I learned the use of two glazes. The first step is to apply a layer of colored glaze, which is like painting. You choose and mix the color you want. You can refer to the glazing samples to make your selection. If you have enough time, we can test it with samples first. Generally the color will become darker after firing. Then there is a layer of white shiny glaze. After dipping, the surface should be polished with tools such as metal sheets and paintbrushes to make it uniform and of suitable thickness. The final product was still not even enough and cracked on the second coat of glaze. I think I will continue to improve next time.
