14. Sheila Hicks: infinite potential
14/11/2023

Sheila Hicks used wires to create a variety of painted patterns, and the patterns were displayed on them by intersecting the threads. This is similar to the way I used knotted ropes to present patterns in the Pitt Rivers Museum. From a distance, it looks like a painting, but when you look closer, it feels like a wonderful touch and softness.

The layout of her exhibition is also of great reference value. When you open the door, you will see some fabric paintings hanging on the wall. At the end of the first floor, there is a giant installation. Then there are some works and TV explanations in the basement. The rhythm of the exhibition is very well controlled. I will also have to take this change into consideration when I hold exhibitions in the future, instead of just displaying works.
